AR & Social Media

The questions in this video are based off a research article from 2021 written by Dr. Tony Liao. The article, You Can See All that from Right Here? A Content Analysis of in Situ Augmented Reality Tweets, covers an experiment that used a software called Tweeps Around to display tweets made in a specific location using augmented reality. The original purpose of the study was to record and analyze the different topics people were posting on Twitter as they shared a location. When the team was analyzing the information, the questions started to pop up. If people could see these tweets pop up in augmented reality as they posted them, would they change what they wrote? Are there potential safety concerns because of this use-case of augmented reality?

I think it would all just depend on who saw her tweets. If a creepy guy saw her tweets, then she would be in trouble but if someone she was looking for saw her tweet then she would stop being lost quicker. Maybe if she knew everyone could see her tweet she would use it like a sign people hold up at the airport to find a friend. I keep saying she it looking for a friend because it looks to me like she is looking for someone she knows, I've made that exact same walk before. For me though, I wouldn't want to open up twitter if I felt lost.
